#SweetFridays – Figs brûlée

figs brûlée

I’m still in Peru, and still trying to make the most of the last batch of summer ingredients, so today I made yet another fig dessert to savor this weekend. Who doesn’t love crème brûlée? Well, now you don’t have to worry about making the cream, or eating too much sugar, because except for the caramel on top, this dessert is all natural, full of healthy sweetness that you can enjoy whenever you feel like having a treat.

There’s not much to say about it. Simply, enjoy.

Serves: 4

Ingredients
  • 8 figs, ripe
  • 8 teaspoons sugar
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Mint leaves
Instructions
  1. Slice the figs in half, lengthwise. Sprinkle each half with one teaspoon sugar.
  2. If you have a small torch burn the sugar on top of the figs, like making crème brûlée. Otherwise, run the figs under the broiler for a couple minutes, just to caramelize the sugar. This will make a crispy caramel topping.
  3. You can enjoy your figs like this, or serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and garnish with mint leaves.
  4. Serve immediately.
